RM of Beaver River’s story
The Rural Municipality of Beaver River No. 622 became a rural municipality on January 1, 1978. It lies in the northwest-central part of Saskatchewan, and it carries the distinction of being the highest-numbered rural municipality in the province.
Two villages, Goodsoil and Pierceland, are surrounded by the RM, and the municipal office is in Pierceland. The Big Island Lake Cree Territory lies within its boundaries, as do the Ministikwan 161A First Nations reserves and Thunderchild First Nation territories.
Today the RM is run by an elected council and an appointed administrator, who meet on the third Thursday of each month.
